We are a non-profit 501(c)3 organization operating to fulfill our mission by giving our families their independence back by providing a lifesaving tool and best friend through our service dog program. We are located and operating on a 30-acre property in Wapakoneta, Ohio. With over 30 years of experience in working with different breeds and many scopes of training and techniques we have been able to use our knowledge and skills to match the right dog for you or your child. We match the dog's natural ability with your needs so the service dog team can be the most successful. Over the course of our 30 years of experience, training includes obedience and behavior medication for pet dogs, police dog training, and service dogs for a wide variety of specific needs.
Jeremy Dulebohn graduated from a school for professional dog trainers and established Dulebohn Dog Training, Inc in 1993. In 1998 a service dog client of Jeremy's founded a new service dog agency focusing on children with autism in which in 2001 he created a curriculum and training philosophy for. His previous expertise in working with police officers and their dogs in search and rescue, and narcotics and bomb detection led him to use those same foundational abilities that dogs have in using their noses to apply to dogs to being trained for children with elopement tendencies and epilepsy. As time progressed and he studied and learned more about the behaviors of autism he began to train the dogs to redirect children from stemming, meltdowns, or just unwanted behaviors. This task is called Behavior Disruption. He is known for teaching dogs not only seizure response (training the dogs to bark when a seizure is taking place) but also scent discrimination which allows the dog to pre-alert to a seizure before it happens. He has had an 85% success rate over these years of placements with some dogs alerting 24 hours in advance before a seizure takes place. This caught the attention of Netflix in 2018 which they filmed a documentary called DOGS season 1, episode 1 about one of the families receiving their seizure alert service dog.
With the rise of autism and the success of his training of service dogs for children with autism and epilepsy, Jeremy was invited onboard as the Training Director for 4 Paws for Ability in 2005, where we maintained that position until resigning in 2020. When Jeremy decided to resign from 4 Paws for Ability, Dulebohn Dog Training, LLC decided to expand our services to offer the same expertise and curriculum we have been providing to clients for over 30 years now.
Dulebohn Service Dogs, Inc. was created as a 501(c)3 non-profit which allows us to function and be compliant under Ohio state law to have our dogs out in public for training purposes with the same rights as the person with the disability.
Our passion is to work and serve our clients by offering highly trained dogs and then instructing our families on how to handle and maintain the trained dog's skills. This in turn will give clients independence and at times lifesaving skills for our families.
We currently only accept so many applications a year which allows us to maintain our quality standard for our families. Every dog that is picked and trained in our program is looked at through our eyes with the questions always in mind "would we want and trust this dog to search for our child if missing? and "would we sleep well knowing this dog would alert us in the night if our child had a seizure?". These are the questions we consistently ask ourselves when evaluating each dog for our program. This truly is the heart of the matter of why we do what we do as we know these are the fears of so many parents.
To provide quality task trained service dogs as a lifesaving tool and a best friend to our families.
We believe the saying "quality over quantity" cannot be overstated. We seek to collaborate with all agencies and services possible to provide quality service dogs instead of focusing on the number of dogs we place each year.
This is woven deeply into the fabric of who we are as people and an organization. We understand the fragility of our families and their needs that are being places into our hands.
This action word drives us to serve others with respect and dignity to bring about positive change in people's lives. To give compassion you must be passionate about what you do and who you do it for.
We believe education is knowledge and empowers us to be confident in who we are and what we do everyday. We are educators on many levels and desire to bring about change through teaching at all levels. Knowledge is power as it brings understanding to situations and allows us to see where change is needed.
We believe if you commit yourself to what you have set out to accomplish you will see the reward in the change you make in people's lives. This dedication is a daily act of faith in believing we will see this come to pass.
Communication is the key to understanding one another. Good relationships are built on clear communication. Without this, much can be misinterpreted and misunderstood. We educate to bring awareness but also to open up a new way to communicate and empower others through the dogs.
We place value in stewarding our decisions to adhere to moral and ethical principles. This includes being honest and open with who we are as people and an organization. Respecting and being grateful for those who we live and work with. Helping those in need. Taking responsibility and accountability for our actions and choices we make. We honor our families, team members, those who give their time and money, and especially our dogs that are placed to serve with their person. We are nothing without having integrity in all things.
